The library
Cetinje’s reading rooms and a closing passage among the stacks.
Montenegro’s story is inseparable from its books: the Crnojević press printed the first South Slavic incunabula in 1494, and the poet-prince Njegoš wrote The Mountain Wreath in Cetinje’s Biljarda palace. This walking tour for readers links the Biljarda, the monastery’s manuscript treasury and the national library, with readings along the way. It is a gentle 2.5-hour walk built on stories and short readings, with the Biljarda entrance and a take-home reading anthology included. Readers, writers and the historically curious will get the most from it — no prior Njegoš knowledge required.

Good day out
Interesting stop, though it's clearly a niche interest for our group. A quieter, more thoughtful experience than the usual tours — loved it. Our guide's knowledge of Njegoš and Montenegro's literary history felt like a private lecture. Seeing the first printing press up close was worth the trip alone.
