The Durmitor Ring is one of Europe’s great mountain roads: 85 km of hairpins, high passes and canyon rims. In a shared 4WD with a local driver-guide you take in the Sedlo pass at 1,907 m, the Sušica canyon overlook, katun shepherd settlements and viewpoints no tour bus can reach. Four to five hours of driving with frequent stops, so it asks nothing of your legs — just bring a warm layer for the 1,900 m passes and a full camera battery. A natural first day in Žabljak: you leave with a mental map of the massif and a list of trails to come back for.
