Through the wall window to San Giovanni, then down the fortress steps into town.
Skip the ticket queue and climb the Ladder of Kotor — the old Austro-Hungarian caravan trail of 70+ switchbacks — to the Krstac saddle, then slip through the famous window in the wall into San Giovanni fortress from above. A guided sunrise-friendly route with the whole bay unrolling below. It is a proper climb — a steady hour and more of switchbacks — but the gradient is old-caravan gentle and the guide paces it with story stops. Start early for shade and empty ramparts; sturdy shoes and the included bottled water are all you need.
