The flexible alternative to the big scheduled cruises: a traditional covered boat, your own skipper, and two hours to drift the water-lily channels, hold position for heron and pelican photographs, and swim off the bow where the water runs warm and clear. Price per boat, up to eight guests. Two hours is enough to reach the quiet channels the big boats skip, and the covered deck keeps the midday sun off. Bird photographers should bring long lenses; families can simply swim, spot herons and let the skipper narrate. The price is per boat for up to eight.
